Rick Shaffer has dropped the grittiest, edgiest album of his career. Rites & Stories is Shaffer's thirteenth full-length, saturated with the vibe of a 3-way argument among Waits, Morrison, and Iggy Pop. Part Punk, part 120 Minutes-era Alternative, Rites & Stories smells of gasoline and cigarettes, tastes black-coffee bitter, and radiates a searing mid-summer desert heat. Close your eyes, listen, and you'll see a highway mirage rising from the scalding asphalt. 

On my first listen, the word "sharp" kept coming to mind. Then I read in Shaffer's bio "a dense cutting edge of angular songs, fragmented guitars, atmospheric passages." That's exactly it! No sonic surface gets cleaned and polished throughout Rites & Stories. Flangers, slides, and reverb unite to forge guitar tones that cut into your ears. When the vocals aren't purposely distorted, there's still a straining--Shaffer offering every ounce of his being as he guts out the verses of "Pleasure."

Shaffer says of the track that it's "an Iggy Pop 'The Idiot' inspired rocker, with great hooks and atmospheric guitar work--a dark rocker existing in a postmodern form...a 70’s manifesto, but pushes further strong rhythmic undercurrents that sound enthralling. As a whole, Rites & Stories is at-once a late-80s Midnight Oil tinge melded with the ambient/echo-y overtones of 60s Surf. Thick reverb, booming toms, bright heavy cymbals, and layers of guitar washing down over it all. It's an album you need to wear in order to appreciate. Listen intently. Let it seep into your soul and you'll begin to experience it, taste it. Hell, you may even start to smell the sweat and attitude that when into its creation.

Jonathan Scott, a rising singer/songwriter from Little Rock, Arkansas, has recently made a groundbreaking discovery in his musical career. After years of singing and practicing, Scott's journey begin when he stumbled upon a vocal range website called Singing Carrots, where he discovered his incredible vocal range gift and talent for singing.

He also watched the YouTube video of Georgia Brown singing a G10 note and that's when he discovered what a high G note was. So As he explored the site and practiced different exercises, he was amazed to find that he could hit a G9 note, something he never thought was possible. With his newfound vocal range, Scott has been able to showcase his talent and passion for music in a whole new way. He has an impressive 7.5 octave vocal range  and also he did a vocal range test on the vocal website called ToneGym of that he  found out his  vocal range on there  was from a F#4 to a G7 that consist of  37 semitones. Then from there  went on  to the  Singing Carrots website.

This year, he has been able to hit a G9 and G#9 notes, the highest notes on the piano, and has a vocal range that spans from F#4 at the lowest to a G#9 at the highest. That is The Second Highest Note Sung In Human History and the Highest for a male like him. That is the Greatest Achievement for him. Scott also has an impressive above average  IQ of 117 as well.

Scott had always been passionate about music and he has been singing since he was a child growing up in the church and singing for the church choir.  As he also  used to sing in the school's talent show in his earlier elementary school's days . However, he never imagined that he had such a wide vocal range until he stumbled upon Singing Carrots. Scott was amazed when he entered his range and found out that he could hit notes he never thought were possible for him.

If you’ve ever been in the unfortunate position of catching someone cheating, you know how awful it feels. Well Marye Amanda was in that exact situation, which led to this song. The Other Girl is about a date gone wrong. “I went out with this guy, and on the way to dinner, he told me another girl was going to meet us. It all went downhill from there,” she states. Though she had every reason to be upset, Marye Amanda realized that the guy was not worth her time and turned this experience into a song. The chorus ends with the powerful statement “I’ve been played a couple times but I never had to meet the other girl.” This single is full of emotion and heartbreak but also the hope that you can come out stronger on the other side of a terrible situation. 

Written by Marye Amanda and Jhett Wilder, The Other Girl takes the classic country with a little Americana influence and turns it into an upbeat modern country heartbreak ballad. Legendary Musical Genius Is Back - Louie Louie / Funhouse / Touch

Don Caverhill (aka Don Gallucci) is a true musical genius and instrumental in the sound and direction of music today. If you are familiar with Don's work, Light is worthy of his legacy. And if you're new to Don, just one listen to Light and you'll know why he’s a legend.

Don's musical career began at age 15 playing the instantly recognizable piano intro on one of rock's most famous records, Louie Louie, The recording is so iconic, enduring and broad in appeal, around the world, May 14 is celebrated Louie Louie Day.  

But He didn't stop there

In the summer of 1968, Don and his new group, Touch, began recording at the world-famous Sunset Sound Studios. Don's musical vision was once again unprecedented and groundbreaking but this time on a grander scale. Rumors about an amazing new album were everywhere. In session, Don looked up surprised to see Jimi Hendrix listening intently in the control room. Another day, it was Grace Slick who was soon followed by Mick Jagger. They arrived without warning to check out firsthand the new 'new'. And once again, Don's inspired compositions along with his virtuoso keyboard performances on the Touch LP launched a new musical genre: Facebook hails Touch as the first Progressive Rock album. Later groups - Yes, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Uriah Heep, Kansas named Touch as a major influence.

But He didn't stop there

Elektra Records engaged Don to produce an album for a then unknown artist, Iggy Pop and the Stooges. The legendary album, Funhouse, was the result. Recognized as the first true Punk Rock, Funhouse became one of the most admired recordings in the history of Rock/Punk.  Henry Rollins, Jack White and Joey­ Ramone consider it arguably the best album ever recorded.  Asked to define his contribution to Funhouse, Don would only say 'I stayed out of the way.'  Yet Iggy Pop and the Stooges recordings without Don’s participation after Funhouse never achieved the same acceptance. To satisfy the demand for the Funhouse magic, the label released a boxed set of seven CDs of the FUNHOUSE OUTTAKES! Years later, demand remained so strong, the label released a $500, limited edition collector's anthology (sold out in a day) of the FUNHOUSE OUTTAKES ON VINYL! The boxed set included extensive excerpts of Henry Rollin’s interview of Don explaining how he went about achieving the Funhouse magic.
