MINNEAPOLIS—Diversified Plastics, Inc. (DPI), an employee-owned plastic-injection molder and digital manufacturer, recently promoted three employees to supervisory positions in order to develop more leaders within the company and to provide additional career growth opportunities for employees. Janel Rosine was promoted from customer service to sales/customer advocate supervisor. A 14-year employee, Rosine has advanced her career by learning as much as possible about DPI’s customers and is recognized as a strong customer advocate. She has also taken continuing education classes to improve her skills. Rosine’s career goals are to bring new customers to DPI and continue to grow customer advocacy as a strategic part of DPI.               

Mayet Peterson was promoted from lead medical assembly to manufacturing supervisor. A 27-year employee, in her new role Peterson sees a big opportunity to improve efficiency by combining assembly and production, rather than continuing to operate as two separate departments. Peterson’s ability to work well in the team and her excellent time management skills make her a strong team member.              

Prathna Oudom was promoted from process engineer to production supervisor/process engineer. A two-year employee, Oudom believes to be successful, a person needs to work really hard in order to get what they want in their career, and this quote from Martin Luther King Jr. sums it up for him: “If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” He embraces the challenges of simultaneously being a production supervisor and process engineer, and having much responsibility to get things done on time.

BIFMA has released an updated version of its occasional use seating standard – ANSI/BIFMA X6.4 – to account for the increasing size of seating users.

Occasional- seating is used in a variety if indoor spaces, including:

The updated standard – ANSI/BIFMA X6.4-2021 – is consistent with the previous version (2018) but is adjusted to address the continued rise in the weight of the average American. The test loads are now increased to reflect the current 95^th percentile male weight of 275 lbs. The standard is based upon halving the durability cycles of its related standard ANSI/BIFMA X5.4-2020(Public and Lounge Seating). 

ANSI/BIFMA X6.4 – 2021 helps manufacturers by defining the specific tests, laboratory equipment, test conditions, and recommended minimum limits that should be used when evaluating occasional-use seating units.
