Baar (December 17, 2025) – SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published an article summarizing updates to Tanzania’s certificate of conformity (CoC) alongside the introduction of a phased system integration program designed to streamline and modernize information exchange and monitoring in the country’s pre-export verification of conformity (PVoC) framework.

As reported in the SGS article, from November 1, 2025, Tanzania’s Bureau of Standards (TBS) introduced an updated CoC template and initiated a staged process of integrated changes to its PVoC system intended to enhance document integrity and traceability.

The TBS’s phased system of integration is part of a broader initiative to make the country’s PVoC program deliver a more transparent, traceable and operationally efficient approach to product conformity that aligns with improvements in digital technology.

Streamlining processes, improving data accuracy and enabling a more effective oversight of trade compliance for Tanzania, the improved system connects platforms and automates key processes, helping to enhance accountability and provide stakeholders with quick access to information, thereby speeding up the verification process. These developments aim to strengthen existing processes to ensure products arriving in the country are safe and fit-for-purpose, as well as to build consumer and market trust, efficiency and compliance.

Further details of SGS’s PCA services for Tanzania are available in ‘Tanzania Launches CoC Update and System Integration for Stronger PVoC Oversight.’

Baar (December 17, 2025) – SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has released an article highlighting critical regulatory updates for importers and exporters trading with Uganda. The updates cover the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) directive on stricter controls for certificates of conformity (CoCs), as well as a revised list of compulsory standards, introducing 57 changes to strengthen product integrity, safety and compliance.

The UNBS directive reinforces that certain elements of a CoC – including certificate number, product name, model or batches, description, applicable standards, and declared quantities – cannot be amended under any circumstances. All proposed changes must be formally communicated to and approved by UNBS before implementation. Unauthorized amendments will be treated as non‑compliance and may result in regulatory or contractual penalties.

In parallel, Uganda has updated its compulsory standards list through Legal Notice No.14 of 2025, issued on June 30, 2025, and effective January 1, 2026. The revised schedule introduces 30 new standards and 27 amendments to existing ones. All newly regulated products have been added to the existing list requiring mandatory pre-export verification of conformity (PVoC) inspection. Importers and exporters are strongly encouraged to review the detailed list of affected standards and products to ensure compliance and avoid delays or penalties.

Further details of SGS’s PCA services for Uganda are available in ‘UNBS Strengthens Controls on Certificates of Conformity and Updates Compulsory Standards.’

Baar (November 21, 2025) – SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, is pleased to host a live webinar, ‘PAU PVoC Uganda Program Awareness 2025 – Ensuring Compliance’, on December 8, 2025.

The Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) enforces a pre‑export verification of conformity (PVoC) program to ensure that specialized equipment and materials destined for oil and gas projects meet national regulatory standards for quality and safety. Conformity assessment is conducted in the country of export prior to shipment, helping companies avoid costly delays and ensuring smoother clearance of consignments into Uganda.

Understanding how the PAU PVoC program works and staying informed about recent changes is key to maintaining compliance and minimizing trade disruptions. Early verification enables exporters and importers to take corrective action in advance if needed, supporting efficient and reliable market access.

During this webinar, Joel Tumwebaze, Manager of QHSE and Security, PAU, and SGS expert Barbra Sayuni, Operations and Contract Manager – Uganda PVoC Programs, will share insights into the PAU PVoC program, including recent regulatory updates, stakeholder responsibilities, common inspection challenges and practical steps to simplify compliance. The session will conclude with a live Q&A.

This event is designed for global trade professionals, including licensees, contractors, exporters, importers, freight forwarders and compliance managers involved in supplying specialized equipment and materials for Uganda’s oil and gas sector.

Industry professionals are advised to register here to secure their place and stay ahead of compliance requirements.
