Los Angeles, CA, Aug 3, 2020 -- After releasing his first EP this month, rising pop and dance artist Tyler Garrett has dropped a new music video for the title track on his "Potential Love" EP.

The video for Potential Love is the much-anticipated follow-up from the pop songwriter's collaboration with EDM artist Jeriqo. Their collaboration "You Have Me" was streamed more than a million times.

Potential Love is Garrett's first solo release. He drew inspiration for the soulful synth song from a variety of personal life experiences and observations. The ambient song showcases Garrett's smooth vocals, haunting harmonies, layered instrumentals, and lyrics saturated with universal feelings about the complexity of love.

"I started the song with a haunting electronic arpeggio leading to a tapestry of minimalist instrumentation to represent the tangled and complex quest for love we all experience," he said. "Love is beautiful, love is dark, love is full of potential for both joy and sorrow. This song attempts to capture the experience of exploring the possible future of a relationship and the tension that creates."

Potential Love is a smooth and laid back electropop track infused with inspiration from hip-hop, 90s-style R&B, and vintage EDM stylings. The single's video dives into the emotional world of the song through ambient lighting, synchronization, and moody camera work.

"The video brings out the darker elements of the song while still leaving the reminder that every relationship is built on hope for the future," Garrett said. "Our goal with the video was to represent how a relationship can go in many different directions."

Garrett, a Los Angeles transplant from South Carolina, has been writing melodic electro-pop songs and collaborating with other artists for years. He discovered his love for singing as a teenager participating in youth choirs.

Together with his current producer, he has recorded more than 35 songs and has partnered with other artists as a featured vocalist, notably with British duo Siskiyou on "When the Tide Comes" in addition to his collaboration with Jeriqo.

Garrett's five-song EP, released by Vice Wave Records, includes the songs "Fearless," "Potential Love," "In My Head," "Ecstacy," and "Eyes." The EP is available on any platform where music can be downloaded.

The auction featured art, antiques, rock ‘n’ roll-signed albums, vintage posters, decorative arts, Asian objects, furniture garden items, works on paper and more.

Beachwood, Ohio, USA, August 3, 2020 -- A simple but charming garden bird whirligig yard ornament standing about 5 feet 6 inches tall with a central post, attached to which were seven spinning branches, each with a bird on either end, proved irresistible to bidders in Neue Auctions’ online-only Summer Art & Antiques Auction held July 25th. After spirited bidding, it flew away for $1,353.

The birds appeared to be machine stamped metal with traces of blue paint, and the tip had an ornamental fleur de lis style finial. Each branch spun in the wind with ease. The estimate was conservative at $150-$300. After 23 bids, it sold to a Liveauctioneers bidder for $1,100 (less 23 percent buyer’s premium) and was marked as a "hot lot” with 50 bidders marking it a favorite.

The sale was packed with 300 lots of unique treasures seeking new homes. These included art, antiques, rock ‘n’ roll-signed albums, vintage posters, decorative arts, Asian objects, furniture garden items, works on paper and more. Overall, the auction grossed $54,580, with the buyer’s premium. Online bidding was via Liveauctioneers.com, Invaluable.com and Bidsquare.com.

"I wasn't sure if bidding would be soft or strong, but many lots exceeded our expectations and estimates,” said Cynthia Maciejewski of Neue Auctions. “People are staying home right now and getting their fix through online shopping and bidding. This is the first summer auction I've had in 20 years.

Maciejewski said, historically, Neue Auctions has had an auction every other month, but for 2020, it's been every month. “We’re working with many estates right now,” she said. “The Baby Boomer generation is downsizing and properties are selling quickly, and that’s keeping us busy. I'm grateful that we're able to keep up with the momentum.”

Following are additional highlights from the auction. All prices quoted include a 23 percent buyer’s premium.

A stunning, hand-carved and painted figure of an Osprey hawk by artist Wendell Gilley (Maine, 1904-1983), depicting the Osprey in flight landing on a driftwood branch over a flounder on the sand, 17 inches tall and artist signed, brought $1,599. Also, an oak Arts and Crafts watchmaker’s desk having a rectangular top and fitted with a glass panel over three drawers, commanded $799.

A sailor attracted much attention in the decorative arts category. He was lot 182: a hand-painted cast iron door stop in the form of a uniformed sailor, painted in red, white and blue and standing 13 ½ inches tall ($1,169). Also, a Nantucket basket hand-woven in 1995 by Sylvia Terry, oval form, surmounted by a carved whale, with bone fittings and closure, artist signed, rose to $677.

Asian lots were led by three Chinese Export armorial plates, the center plate Qing, Quianlong (circa 1735-1738), painted in the center with the arms of Dickinson impaling Wright above the motto “Dei Manus Medicus”. The other two plates (Qing, Qianlong, circa 1745) were painted in the center with the quarterly arms of Fazakerley impaling Lutwyche. The set brought $1,599.

A set of eight 20th century Chinese Export cabbage leaf covered cups and saucers, the delicate cups having two handles and domed covers, the saucers 6 inches by 5 inches, garnered $1,353. Also, a Capodimonte armorial china lot comprising two cookie plates with handles, six plates and five bread plates, all decorated with bacchanalian scenes around the rims, fetched $1,107.

A color woodblock with embossing by Hiroaki Takahashi Shotei (Japanese, 1871-1945), titled Tama, the Cat (1924), 10 inches by 14 inches, from the lifetime edition published by Shozaburo Watanabeo, signed with the publisher’s seal used from 1929-1942, went for $1,107; and a group of eight assorted Chinese blanc de chine Guanyin figures, the tallest one 10 inches, made $799.

Chinese textiles piqued bidder interest. A silk jacquard woven table cloth, patch construction in gold and earth tones woven with dragons in clouds, measuring about 86 inches by 44 inches, knocked down for $1,169. The same price was realized for a silk jacquard woven quilt, woven with dragon and phoenix borders centering bands in multiple colors, 70 inches by 64 inches.

Neue Auctions’ next major auction is a mid-century design auction with contemporary art slated for Saturday, August 22nd, at 11 am Eastern time. The sale is titled “What’s Neue Pussycat?” and bidding will be online-only, through Liveauctioneers.com, Invaluable.com and Bidsquare.com.

Headlining the sale is an artwork by Pop Art icon Roy Lichtenstein (American, 1923-1997). The offering of this screen print, titled Oval Office, gives it additional meaning in our current trying times. Commissioned as part of the Artists for Freedom of Expression Project, the 36 inch by 45 inch print, signed in pencil by Lichtenstein and dated 1992, has an estimate of $30,000-$50,000.

The Modern auction will feature many other wonderful finds in the fine art category, to include works by artists like Viktor Schreckengost, Julian Stanczak and others. Cataloging is underway. Downtown Los Angeles, CA, USA, July 29, 2020 -- Andrew Jones Auctions achieved phenomenal results across multiple categories in its Design for the Home & Garden auction held online, July 26th. The auction was 95 percent sold and grossed $1.6 million. The top lot was a spectacular still life oil on canvas painting by Nicolai Fechin (Russian, 1881-1955). It changed hands for $262,500.

Bidding for the circa 1925 painting, titled Still life with flowers and fruit, opened above the high estimate figure of $100,000 and quickly climbed to its final selling price. Fechin was a master of color and composition. The painting was from the collection of Mary and Lou Silver from Indian Wells, California. Most lots in the 261-lot auction were from the Silvers’ outstanding collection.

The Silver collection included important fine art, sculpture, micro mosaics, antiques, art glass, design and a Steinway grand piano. Also offered were items from the estate of Ruth Harvey of Bel Air, California and fine silver and antiques from a Northern California estate. Various fine art selections and exquisite objects struck a chord with decorators, collectors and millennials.

“We are grateful that, as a small and nimble business with steadfast clients, we have been able to adapt and bring important, researched works to the market in a more virtual manner,” said Andrew Jones, president and CEO of Andrew Jones Auctions. He added, “The interest garnered and the prices reached are very encouraging. Pivoting to online-only auctions has not hurt us.”

To prepare for this auction, Andrew Jones Auctions decided to open for preview by appointment only for three days. “We restricted the number of clients that could be in the gallery to four at a time and took every precaution including temperature checks, mask requirements, hand sanitizer and constant surface cleaning,” Mr. Jones said. “All in all, clients were delighted to be able to preview and were impressed with the lengths we went to, to protect the health and safety of all.”

With no in-room audience, a full complement of phone bidders stationed on distanced tables and active online platforms brought in buyers from around the world. Around 3,500 people registered to bid online, via AndrewJonesAuctions.com, Invaluable.com and LiveAuctioneers.com. In addition, 200 in-house registrations for absentee and telephone bidding were also recorded.

The sale realized consistently strong results from start to finish. The collection of Mary and Lou Silver featured an impressive Italian micro mosaic table top attributed to 19th century mosaicist Cesare Roccheggiani ($45,000); a Marc Lalique glass ‘Cactus’ center table ($42,500) and a vibrant indoor scene by Helen Maria Turner titled Meditating by the Window ($40,000).

Fine silver shone with an impressive pair of trays by the master silversmith Paul Storr engraved with an elaborate coat of arms from the estate of Ruth Harvey, making $30,000 and $27,500, respectively. Also, a Roman marble bust of a barbarian from a private London collector doubled its presale high estimate, selling for a respectable $50,000.

A collection of early English silver from a California estate was led by a rare set of four George II tumbler cups by Edward Feline, London, which made $13,750. The same estate saw a set of six George III weighted candlesticks by John Carter bring $13,750. From another owner, an Indian Colonial five-piece tea and coffee service commanded $10,000.
